June 20, 2025, Friday 6:30 pm – Evening of discussion and remembrances of New Braintree’s “Conserve Our Small Town” (C.O.S.T.) era, moderated by Susan Reed and former senator Steve Brewer.
This “David and Goliath” fight was to prevent a prison from being built on the current site of the Massachusetts State Police Training Center on West Brookfield Road. Many town residents fought the ups and downs of this monumental, protracted battle to its final successful conclusion with Governor William Weld in 1990.
